San Miguel de Allende

In the city’s historic, cobblestoned center lies the neo-Gothic church Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, whose dramatic pink towers rise above the main plaza, El Jardín. The Templo de San Francisco church nearby has an 18th-century churrigueresque facade. Many festivals occur throughout the year, which includes food, fireworks, and dance. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. Since the Second World War the town has attracted a significant amount of foreign retirees, artists, writers and tourists.
